Repair/Overhaul
The
Ellison Throttle Body Injector has proven to be a reliable unit and
should provide you with many years of trouble-free service however,
as with most things mechanical, there comes a point when a unit
should be disassembled, inspected, and critical components
replaced. While there are no set time limits for this service some
guidelines include: When the engine has reached it's rate TBO (Time
Before Overhaul), after five calendar years of use, and/or if the
unit exhibits non-standard operation.
If you
experience symptoms in the operation of your Ellison Throttle Body
Injector that are not normal, or if you even have a question, please
contact the factory for guidance on what to do. Based on service
repairs and customer support calls, we have identified some common
symptoms of non-standard operating characteristics the Throttle
Body can exhibit, which would indicate need for an inspection and
overhaul. these may include:
|
*Excessively rich mixture
*Lean mixture
*Continuous and excessive fuel leakage after shut down
(Contact factory for more details)
*Loose throttle or mixture connections
*In and Out end play of the metering tube assembly, with
respect the throttle body housing
*Contamination of the fuel system
*Change in operating behavior of the unit
*Physical damage to the unit |
If an
Ellison Throttle Body has been sitting for an extended period of
time with fuel in the system it may result in lean operation, in
which case the unit will need to be returned to the factory. Refer
to the manual or contact the factory for proper purging instructions
to remove all fuel from unit for storage. Also, we do not recommend
the use of auto fuel in the Ellison Throttle Body - A symptom of
using auto fuel may be lean operation, especially at higher power
settings.
A typical
overhaul starts with a visual inspection of the unit when it arrives
at our repair facility. We then determine what components and
repairs are needed, perform the necessary work, and reassemble the
unit. The unit is then recalibrated to new specifications.
Typically the overhaul runs between 2 and 5 hours of shop labor,
plus parts, however the cost can be higher if unusual damage is
found on the unit. To ensure a top quality repair we only provide
service work on the Ellison Throttle Body Injectors at our factory,
and we do not make parts available for customer repairs. The
typical lead time for a repair is 2 weeks, however this can vary
depending on the number of units in house for service, please
contact the factory for more information.
